What is display resolution, and why is it important? [Complete Guide]

Want to know what screen resolutions are and why they’re important? Read on to find out why.

What Does Display or Screen Resolution Really Mean?

Images are shown on computer screens by using a huge number of tiny squares called pixels. To arrange the pixels, a horizontal and vertical grid is used. The horizontal and vertical pixels are shown as a way to measure the screen’s resolution.

Most of the time, screen resolutions are between 1024768 (or 1366768) and 19201080. So, the screen can be seen with 1024 pixels on the left and 768 pixels on the right (or vertically with 1366 pixels, and so on).

You can use this free tool to find out what size your screen is.

Screen size is different from screen resolution.

Besides the resolution, the size of the screen is also important. The diagonal of your screen tells you how big it is. One inch is the same as 5′′, 10′′, etc.

It has nothing to do with the size or quality of the screen. Let’s say you had a 10.6-inch tablet and a 24-inch desktop monitor, both of which had 1920 x 1080 resolutions. The resolution of both devices is the same, so they can both show the same image. The only difference is that because the computer monitor is bigger, the image will look much bigger on the screen.

Also, because the dots will be closer together, the larger image will look less clear.

Even if the size of two monitors is the same, they can still have different resolutions. If you have a high-resolution monitor, this resolution will let you fit more on one screen. Because the pixels are closer together, the images will be smaller, but they will still be sharper.

Screen Resolutions of 1440p, 2K, 4K, and 8K

When high-definition TVs became popular, manufacturers came up with a way to talk about display resolution. Most computer monitors will show 720p, 1080p, 1140p, or 4K as a number. In the same way, the “p” or I shows whether the display is interlaced or progressive scan.

One reason these numbers are also used for computers is because a computer monitor can show a higher-definition picture than a TV. Display numbers are always the number of horizontal lines on a screen.

1440p

Quad HD is the name for 2560 x 1440, which is usually found on gaming monitors and high-end phones. 1440p has four times the resolution of 720p HD. To make things even more confusing, many high-end smartphones have a resolution of 2,960 x 1440, which is part of the 1440p range.

4K or 2160p

People often use the terms UHD, 4K, and Ultra HD to talk about this resolution. It has a high display resolution and is found in high-end TVs and computer monitors. 2160p is called 4K when the width is close to 4000 pixels. So, 4K HD has four times as many pixels as 1080p Full HD.

8K or 4320p

With a resolution of 7680 x 4320, “8K” technology gives you 16 times more pixels than a regular 1080p FHD or “Full HD” TV. For now, the only 8K TVs you can buy are from LG and Samsung.

Here’s a test video that you can watch to see if your computer can handle an 8K video:

Consumer devices don’t have to have a 2K resolution yet.

In the world of film, a 2K resolution is 2048 x 1080. Consumers, on the other hand, would think it was 1080p. Also, some manufacturers of displays call screens with a horizontal resolution of more than 2000 pixels “2K,” even though they have a resolution of at least 25601440. In this case, the settings for this device are 1440p, which is also called Quad HD, not 2K.

The term “2K resolution” can be used to describe a TV, a monitor, a smartphone, or a tablet. It would be wrong to think that it only applies to these devices, though. Most likely, the real resolution is 1440p or quad HD.

Can I watch videos with a higher resolution on a device that has a lower resolution?

You might worry about whether a high-resolution video can be seen on a small screen. Can 720p TVs display 1080p videos? Yes, indeed! Any video can be watched, no matter how high, medium, or low the resolution of the screen is. If the video has a higher resolution than what your screen can show, your device changes the resolution of the video to match the resolution of your screen. One way to do this is by downsampling.

For example, if your screen can only show 720p and the video is 4K, the video will show at 720p.

Display orientation vs. the aspect ratio

The way you look at a screen depends on how it is set up. Landscape and portrait are the most common ways to set up a screen today. A display with a landscape orientation is wider than it is tall, while a display with a portrait orientation is the opposite.

Most of the time, our computer, laptop, TV, and many other screens are set up in landscape mode. For example, the screens on our smartphones are smaller, and we usually use them in portrait mode. However, since they are easy to turn, they can also be used in landscape mode.

The aspect ratio of a screen is the length of its long side compared to the length of its short side. So, when you look at a landscape screen, the aspect ratio tells you how wide it is compared to how tall it is. In portrait mode, the aspect ratio is not used to describe screens or other rectangles.

How does the resolution of your screen help you?

If you’ve read this far, you probably already know that the higher the screen resolution, the better. It’s not always like this.

If two screens were the same size, but one had a higher resolution than the other, the higher resolution screen would show more and need less scrolling. It also has more edge.

Because of this, the picture will also get smaller. You might want to zoom in on the picture because it’s hard on your eyes. This lowers the resolution and shows less on the screen. Why buy something with a high resolution if you can’t use it right?

This is especially likely to happen on smaller devices like smartphones and tablets. We’ve also talked about whether or not your phone’s screen needs to be 4K.

You might think you shouldn’t pass it up just because it’s there, even if you don’t really need it. This is because of a few things. One of the main ones is money. No matter what size the screen is, screens with a high resolution cost more.

Another reason has more to do with how things work. For a high resolution, you need more resources. When you set your screen to 60Hz, the video card updates the frame 60 times per second. People don’t usually use 60Hz, and if they can, they would rather use 120Hz or 144Hz. When the resolution goes up, it puts more strain on the video card. Each pixel updates at the same time, so there is a lot of refreshing going on. There are more pixels when the strain is higher.

1920 x 1080 x 60 FPS is probably more than enough for medium-end video cards, but higher resolutions are hard to play on high-end video cards.

How To Make A Guitar Pick

We have seven simple, enjoyable ways to build a guitar pick, whether you need an emergency pick, want to personalize your collection, or simply want to save money. We have projects for everyone, from those that take no effort to those that are completely free!

Pick Up A Pick Punch

The cost is minimal.

Hole punchers are a ubiquitous equipment in many homes and businesses. If you’ve ever enjoyed doing crafts, you’ll know that many places sell hole punchers, which allow you to cut fun, imaginative designs out of paper, such as a heart, puppy, or star.

Consider the same concept but apply it to cutting out a properly sized guitar pick with a hole puncher. It really can be that simple!

A pick punch is a little tool that slices through thick materials effortlessly, allowing you to make guitar picks out of nearly anything. You may test out some of the thickest cardboard, as well as old library cards and even expired credit cards.

The only monetary commitment you’ll need is a one-time purchase of a pick punch; the components will most likely be found around your house or in an old wallet.

Cut a Few Cards

Work Level: Some effort is required.

There is no charge.

An old credit card is one of the best things to use with the pick punch (or any card that is relatively thick and durable). There is another option to make a pick out of those old gift cards you never used if you are seeking for the cheapest way to make a pick — or if you can’t find a pick punch near you.

Get a pair of scissors, a marker, sandpaper if you have it, masking tape, and the cards, of course.

Get imaginative when choose which cards to transform into a pick! Which ones have the most vibrant hues? Do any of you have a cool image that you think would look well on a pick? Don’t forget to think about the card’s adaptability. Look for a thicker choice, such as a credit card, if you like a harder pick.

Now is the time to gather your cards and get started!

Place one of your previous picks on top of the card where you want your new one to go. Trace an outline around the pick using the marker. After that, just cut along the line.

Because the plastic can be a little harsh when cut, sand the edges of the new pick to smooth out any rough spots. Because you don’t want to damage your guitar strings, this step is extremely important.

If you happen to have some cards with rounded edges, make sure the pick’s point is on one of them so you don’t have to sand it down as much.

The last step is entirely optional. Put a small piece of tape on the top of the guitar pick where you hold it if you need more traction so it doesn’t slip out of your fingers. You can remove the tape if you don’t want to compromise the appearance of your selection.

While this method requires a little more effort than simply using a pick punch, it is straightforward enough that you won’t need to purchase anything.

Repurpose Items Throughout Your Home

Effort Level: Minimal to none

There is no charge.

We’ve already looked at ways to recycle those old credit cards that you no longer use, but that’s not the only way to build a guitar pick. Almost certainly, you have a variety of items around the house that can be used as a pick.

First and foremost, reopen that wallet. We’re going to use coins instead of credit cards this time. Simply choose a quarter or nickel that fits comfortably in your fingers, and that’s all there is to it! You’re all set to go!

Keep in mind that you shouldn’t use pennies as guitar picks all of the time because they can be harsh on your strings and necessitate frequent string cleaning. Even yet, if you’re stuck and need a pick, a coin will suffice!

An outdated sim card is another option. Don’t worry about pulling the sim card out of your phone if you don’t have an old one laying about or in the infamous junk drawer. However, if you have one that you aren’t using, it could be a good choice.

Consider making a pick out of some plastic objects if you don’t want to use anything that might be too hard for your strings. You can choose the firmness this way. For those who prefer a softer choice, a Pringles can lid, for example, could be appropriate. Similarly, a stiffer pick can be made from a plastic container or a bottle top.

Follow the same steps as you did with the credit card picks when cutting a pick out of plastic. Smooth off the edges as much as possible, for the sake of your fingers and strings.

If you don’t have any of the items listed above, seek around for something that you can use to make a selection. If you’re in a pinch for a selection, almost anything can suffice — just make sure the firmness is perfect for you!

How To StylizeAnOldCircuitBoard

Work Level: Some effort is required.

There is no charge.

This option is ideal if you want to create a truly one-of-a-kind and stunning guitar pick. Circuit boards can create an appealing – and effective – guitar pick because they are multicolored and have interesting-looking paths running across them.

You’ll need an old circuit board to get started. You could have one lying around if you work with computers. If you don’t have any, you might ask around or hunt for cheap junk parts online. It will be easier to cut a thin piece if you can find one.

Gather a pencil, an old pick, snips or scissors, and a file once you’ve found a circuit board. Place the pick on the circuit board where you want to cut your new one and trace around it with the pencil. Then, using your snips or scissors, cut out the pick.

Because a circuit board is so resilient, your new pick will most likely start off as an odd shape with sharp edges. So, bring your file out of the drawer and start reshaping it. Smooth the edges till they’re the right shape and won’t damage your guitar strings.

After you’ve created a lovely pick, you can finish it off with one more step. Rub some sandpaper over the surface, preferably not too hard, until the copper shines through, adding the perfect finishing touch.

Recycle Those Out-of-Print CDs

Work Level: Some effort is required.

There is no charge.

If you don’t know where to find old circuit boards but think building a guitar pick out of reused electronics is cool, dig through your wardrobe for some old CDs.

The end product, whether they’re blank or covered in an image of your favorite band’s record, may be rather appealing. Plus, CDs are the right compromise between too solid and too flimsy, making them long-lasting choices with a hint of flexibility.

Follow the same techniques as for the other materials to cut out your pick. Make the CD’s edge one of the pick’s edges to make it smooth and rounded.

Also, be extremely cautious when cutting the CD because the jagged edges might easily snap and injure you.

After you’ve cut out your pick and sanded down the edges, use a marker to add a personal touch. If the CD is blank, draw a cool design on it, or decorate the back if one side already has a design.

Have Some Fun With Wood

Work Level: A significant amount of effort is required.

Low cost if you have the necessary tools.

While this project isn’t easy, the end effect is breathtaking, so we had to include it. Furthermore, if you enjoy working with wood and have a few tools in your garage, this project could be a lot of fun for you.

The general procedure is the same as before, but you’ll need a few additional tools. Make sure you have a saw, chisels, sanding blocks, and a wood finish before you begin.

Because of their resilience, little pieces from a fruit tree would be the finest choice for the wood. Before going to the hardware store to buy wood, ask your friends or a local tree trimmer if they have any scraps.

The first step is to slice the wood into thin slices that are 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick. The thickness should be determined by the wood’s flexibility and your selected pick flexibility. Reduce the thickness of your wood if you cut it to an 18-inch slab and find it too thick or solid.

After that, draw a rough sketch of the pick on a piece of wood. If there are any grain patterns in the part, decide where to draw the outline based on what looks best.

Slowly remove the superfluous wood with your chisel. Work slowly and carefully so you don’t splinter the wood while following the outline. In an ideal world, you’d use a variety of chisels, the largest for the initial cuts and the smallest for the bends.

Because you won’t be able to completely smooth the sides with chisels, the next step is to use sanding blocks or sandpaper. Begin with a coarse grit then go to a softer sandpaper.

Soak your pick in water once it’s nice and smooth to bring out the grain patterns even more. Allow it to dry before applying your preferred finish. Allow enough time for the oil to fully sink into the wood before wiping the pick clean.

Customize Your Selections

Work Level: A significant amount of effort is required.

Cost: There are some inexpensive expenses.

Even if a credit card, circuit board, or CD can be used to create some creative pick designs, they may not be precisely what you’re looking for. As a result, here are a few options to customize and personalize your choice.

Make Use Of Photographs

Placing a photograph on a pick is one way to make it more personal. In just a few simple steps, you can build one with an image of your family, your dog, or even your favorite musician.

To begin, cut a pick out using one of the ways listed above. It makes little difference whether you use a pick punch or cut one out of your credit card by hand; the important thing is that it be the proper size and form.

After that, select and print your photo. Because predicting what size of photo will fit properly on the pick can be tricky, print out a few possibilities. If at all feasible, have your photographs printed at a local photo facility to ensure that they are of great quality and on long-lasting paper.

To test how they fit on your pick, cut out a few and try them on. Once you’ve decided on the proper size, trace the image and cut off the portion you’ll be using. Apply mod podge to the pick, then place the image in the proper location and apply more mod podge on top. After that, apply a diamond finish over the image to give it a professional appearance.

Incorporate some color

You can also customise your pick by decorating the surface if you want to express yourself creatively. You may make the selection 100 percent your own whether you cut it from a CD or a library card.

Start by painting or applying nail polish to the desired color and design on the surface. Consider using a single solid color, a swirl, or a checkered design. After all, it’s your choice, so make it a design that reflects your personality!

Use One-of-a-Kind Papers

Another alternative is to re-apply the mod podge and cover the pick entirely with paper. Apply newspaper scraps, sheet music, or even pages from your favorite book to the pick. Apply the finish to prevent the paper from chipping or peeling as you play the guitar.

Make It Your Own With Writing

Add phrases to your choosing for a final touch of individuality. A pick is, indeed, incredibly small. You can add a name, initials, or an encouraging statement if you have a steady hand. Make sure the pick is totally smooth before doing so. If you used a credit card or plastic, you may want to paint over it for a more professional effect. Then, using a non-bleeding marker, add the words (do a test beforehand).

You can find a term in the newspaper or a book if you don’t have the best writing skills. Cut out the portion you want to utilize and adhere it to the pick with mod podge.

Things To Think About When Making A Decision

When learning how to create a guitar pick, there are a few things to keep in mind.

The material’s feel and flexibility are maybe the most important considerations. Because these options don’t have a firmness rating, you’ll have to test them out to discover how they feel. Before cutting into a credit card, for example, bend it or play a few chords with it to observe how it feels.

You might not want to use these DIY picks on a regular basis. While some options may appear to be very identical to the genuine thing, they may alter your playing or even cause injury to the strings. If you want a long-lasting option, choose a robust material and sand the sides down sufficiently.

Make numerous selections! Instead than cutting one out of a credit card, use the entire thing. That way, if one of your picks is lost, you’ll have a backup.

Experiment with different techniques to determine what works best for you and your guitar playing style. While some people enjoy playing with coins, others may find it too rigid. Experiment with different materials to see which ones will help you improve your game.

If all else fails, your fingers can make an excellent pick! This is referred to as fingerpicking on the guitar. You don’t always need to scramble to find an emergency option.

Difference between a home theater and a hi-fi system

This article will compare and contrast a home theater system and a hi-fi system.

I’ve written extensively about home theater systems. See the following article for more information on home theater systems.

For the purposes of this article, I will only briefly discuss home theater systems, highlighting key points.

The main focus will be on hi-fi systems, then I’ll compare them to home theater systems.

Because this is a beginner’s guide, I won’t go into too much detail.

The two types of systems are often used interchangeably and can overlap, which complicates the comparison.

Let’s start with hi-fi systems and then compare them to home theater systems.

Introduction to audio and video systems

The definition of hi-fi is the reproduction of sound with minimal distortion.

Hi-fi is high-quality sound reproduction. It stands for high fidelity. This implies high precision in sound reproduction.

This term distinguishes high-fidelity sound from low-fidelity sound produced by less expensive equipment

The term does not refer to a specific piece of musical equipment. Instead, high-fidelity home audio equipment is typically defined as such.

But a home theater system is an entertainment system designed to provide immersive visual and audio.

It includes a receiver, speakers, and subwoofers.

A home theater system acts as a hub for music and TV viewing.

Music lovers and enthusiasts were becoming increasingly picky about the sound quality of their listening devices in the early 1950s.

Instrument makers began switching from mono to stereo sound. A large subwoofer would accompany isolated speaker enclosures.

Hi-fi systems have a neutral frequency response, with minimal noise and distortion.

A hi-fi system’s purpose is to make music sound more authentic.

Hi-Fis are known for their precise sound production. Initially, the goal was to make the sound as close to live music as possible.

MP3s and bass-heavy headphones can degrade the sound quality that musicians work so hard to produce.

Beats and instruments can be drowned out as a result. Here comes hi-fi.

Now the same track sounds different because you can hear the instruments and other sounds more clearly.

Considerations before buying a hi-fi system

Before choosing a hi-fi system, consider your available space and the system you can accommodate.

Larger systems are better suited to larger living spaces and are not recommended for small apartments.

Also, keep in mind your budget. Because hi-fi systems can be costly, you must know your budget.

Determining your music listening style is also vital. Do you use a phone or tablet?

What is a hi-fi system?

Individual units make up a custom hi-fi system. A hi-fi system has various components.

Each component focuses on a specific task in music playback. It’s critical to comprehend your musical tastes.

Hi-fi systems can play older music formats like DVDs or records. In reality, most modern systems are very good at playing digital music.

The next most important factor to consider is the amplifier.

The amplifier powers the system and controls the volume.

The last component is the speakers. Speakers for hi-fi systems range from bookshelf to floor standing.

The type of speakers you get will depend on your room’s size and other factors.

Types of Hi-Fi systems

There are various systems that can be used. I’ll mention a few.

A one-box unit is ideal for those with limited space. One box units are small but high in quality. Also, a single box won’t break the bank.

Portable Bluetooth speakers are a music lover’s dream. Smartphones, streaming services, and Bluetooth speakers all work well.

Also, portable Bluetooth speakers can charge your device while you listen. But this uses battery life.

If you cannot afford a fully integrated home theater system, a sound bar is a great alternative.

Bluetooth is now common in sound bars, allowing you to play music from your phone via Bluetooth.

What is the difference between a home theater and a stereo?

It all depends on whether you prefer music or movies, and what system best suits your needs.

A home theater system uses subwoofers and speakers to create a movie theater-like experience at home.

A hi-fi system is more concerned with sound reproduction.

They reproduce audio as you would hear it in a studio, with all the instruments and vocals accurately captured.

A receiver is needed to tweak the surround sound effect in a home theater. A hi-fi system, on the other hand, uses a powerful amplifier.

Easy to set up hi-fi systems. Simple s speaker or multi-channel stereo will do.

Most hi-fi systems cover all frequency ranges well.

Home theater systems start at 5.1 channels.

The system’s many speakers are designed to create sound from all directions, but most importantly to track the sound’s direction.

So if someone approaches from behind in a movie, you will hear the sound.

The speakers mentioned above are all more expensive (plus you may want to spend your money on other items), so a more affordable option should be included. I give you the M-Audio BX4! This clever little speaker, despite its size and cost, packs a punch. The BX4’s small size makes it ideal for a DJ on the go. The BX4 is lightweight, portable, and produces a powerful sound.

The BX4 is a desktop and small-space speaker that delivers studio-quality sound. It has surprising clarity, making it easy and enjoyable to hear your mixes. The BX4 is so adaptable and portable that it can be used for both leisure and work in the studio.

Audio A7V

The A7V is Adam Audio’s most popular and widely used speaker. It has transient and bass response, which is rare in cheaper monitors. Accelerated Ribbon Technology (ART) expands the speaker’s frequency range.

The A7V, like the Yamaha HS5, can be adjusted to fit any space. This makes moving from one job to another a breeze. DJs value the speaker’s ability to create tight, efficient, and controlled mixing. It is a very reliable choice that will last for years.

parent guides to buying skateboards for children from 3 to 9 years old

Do any of their friends skate?

Ask your pals if they want to skate with them, and if so, what kind of skateboard or longboard they have and where they acquired it.

The expectations of your child will be clear if you follow this advice.

When skating with other youngsters, children learn more quickly.

They’ll do everything they can to catch up to the rest of the kids.

A different or equal board will make learning more difficult for your child.

How old is the child?

If your child is under the age of five, try purchasing a skateboard without griptape or a plastic skateboard from a skate store.

Why?

Taking a ride down a hill is one of the first activities that any young youngster performs.

Griptape can cause holes in your pants if used incorrectly!

Put an old towel on the griptape if they’re going to sit on it.

You may find out what kind of skateboard they will use by looking at “Where are they skating?”

Every child is unique and special.

As a skateboarder, I’ve seen kids as young as 4 drop in on a little ramp, while 12 year olds are solely interested in buttboarding.

As soon as a child is able to walk, he or she can enjoy the thrill of riding a skateboard.

When children are young, they are prone to tripping over their own fingers and getting them stuck in the spokes of the wheel.

At the tender age of two, my daughter was able to balance and roll on a skateboard.

Pushing and balancing skills can be taught to children as young as three or five years old.

As youngsters approach their twelfth birthday, they will begin to experiment with one of the various forms of skating, whether it be longboarding or standard skateboarding.

Is there a budget?

How much money are you expecting to spend on this?

At least $100 is required to buy a good skateboard.

In my opinion, the bare minimum need to be at least $150.

An entry-level micro cruiser with a nice double kick should suffice.

Since we’re selling our boards in a different way, the budget filter on our website has been deleted.

Completes and decks have been placed together in this section.

All of the cards can be put together to form a complete selection set.

It’s not ideal to use a budget filter because a $200 high-end deck will be paired with a $200 entry-level complete.

In order to narrow your search, you may select a price range from the drop-down menu and then scroll down.

What kind of rink will your child be using?

Skateboards come in two flavors: longboards and skateboards.

We identify mini cruisers and longboards as longboards on our website.

The length of a tiny cruiser ranges from 22 to 29 inches.

A cruiser’s length ranges from 30 to 32 inches.

Both varieties are typically a single kick-style board in its design and functionality.

In order to classify them as “cruisers,” they use longboard-style wheels that are soft and move smoothly.

As a result, they are ideal for uneven surfaces, such as driveways and cycling paths

For driveways, roads, and footpaths, a tiny cruiser or a plastic skateboard may be more appropriate (see tips below)

A double kick is the most common type of skateboard.

Tricks, street skating, and skateparks are all common uses for these skates.

The length of most double kicks is roughly 30 inches.

The style of skating is determined by the skate’s width.

Skateboards are typically 8 inches wide.

If your child is interested in learning tricks and flipping the board, go for a board between 7 and 7.75 inches.

Make sure you pick something between 7.75 and 8 inches for teenagers who wish to skate in a skatepark or bowl.

Skaters find a wider board easier to catch with their feet when flipping, hence the current standard size is increasing from 7.75 to 8 inches.

BUSHINGS: GENERAL INFO

Skateboard trucks would be incomplete without bushings.

The top bushing faces the road, while the bottom bushing faces the board on every truck.

A plastic material known as polyurethane is used to make skateboard bushings.

Various colors, forms, and hardness levels are available for bushings.

An overview of the various bushings is provided here so that you can confidently select the right type for your system.

But don’t worry, all skateboard trucks come with bushings already installed.

A conventional set-up, properly fitted to the trucks and suitable for the majority of skaters, is chosen by the manufacturers.

In addition, bushings are now available as a separate item so that you may fine-tune your setup and replace them when necessary.

BUSHINGS: HARDNESS & RECOMMENDATIONS

The unit A is used to measure bushing hardness in durometers, just as skateboard wheels.

Higher this number, the more abrasive the polyurethane is

It’s easy to see how the hardness of your bushings affects your driving style

IMPORTANT: The less sensitive your trucks are when turning, the harder the bushings, the more important this is to remember.

Softer bushings will allow your vehicles to turn more quickly and easily

We should, of course, not generalize too much.

Bushings’ behavior is also influenced by the weight of the rider.

The harder your bushings are, the heavier you should be, as a general rule

If you’re a beginner, the following chart can give you a general sense of what bushing durometer is optimal for your setup.

Body Weight Bushing durometer
loose trucks
Bushing durometer
tight trucks
< 65 kg 81-85 A 86-90 A
65 – 80 kg 86-90 A 91-95 A
80 – 90 kg 91-95 A 96-100 A
> 90 kg 96 – 100 A 100 A

BUSHINGS: SHAPES

Tapered bushings, often known as “cone bushings,” and straight “barrel bushings,” are the two main types of skateboard bushings.

Cone bushings improve steering precision, whereas barrel bushings provide more truck stability.

Various bushing configurations are possible.

Skateboarding has established that the cone bushing is used as the top bushing, and the barrel bushing is used as the bottom bushing.

Skaters who prefer a “surfy” and “soft” sensation should experiment with a double-cone setup (two conical bushings).

Skate Deluxe’s online skate shop carries bushings known as Eliminator Bushings, including Tall Cone, Stepped Cone, and Double Stepped Barrel.

In skateboarding, these bushings are less critical because they are more commonly seen on longboards and cruisers rather than skateboards.

Our Skate Shop’s “Traditional Bushings” section has the perfect bushings for your trucks.

His passion for the game, as well as success, make sure that people should see him as their mentor. His ability has led him to complete and documented his first 900 skateboarding tricks. And also, Hawk is regarded as the pioneer of modern vertical skateboarding.

what skateboard does tony hawk use

Tony Hawk is widely known as the greatest to have ever played the game of skateboard and was also recognized by Foxweekly as the most influential skateboarders of all time back in 2014.

Hawk simply does it all, as he has also appeared in films and other media. He has also appeared in his series of video games and does a lot of philanthropic activities. Hawk has a foundation known as the Tony Hawk Foundation, whose main aim is to help build skateboard parks in unprivileged and underdeveloped areas.

What Skateboard Does Tony Hawk Use?

Tony Hawk’s first-ever skateboard deck (Bahne skateboard) was given to him by his elder brother Steve Hawk. The Bahne skateboard has got red stoker urethane metal wheels raised with wooden blocks beneath the board and truck.

Steve Hawk gave the skateboard deck out to Tony Hawk in the year 1977. And it was the first board that Tony Hawk used in starting his skateboard journey.
Although the board was not in very good shape, Tony being focused on learning how to ride a skateboard.

He attached the wooden blocks under the board which gave him great height to enable him to see clearly in terms of making turns as well as performing skateboarding tricks better and more efficiently.

Starting his skateboarding journey at the very early age of 12 and becoming a pro at 14 is a dream yet to be actualized for most aspiring children. But for Tony Hawk, it was a reality. He started learning at 12 and became a pro at 14.

He has competed in 100s of the tournament before he turned 25, and as far as I know, he is the first-ever skateboarder to land a 900 in competition.
Even after retiring from skateboarding in the year 1999, Hawk continued to skate in exhibitions and demos due to his great love for the game.

In 1999, which he retired, Tony Hawk went on to create a “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Video game franchise.” And this video game is one of the most popular video games in history to date.

Also, His foundation known as the Tony Hawk Foundation. With over $5 million, it has funded over 550 skate parks around the world.

How Tony Hawk Changed Skateboarding

Skateboarding used to be for teens in high schools and traditionally ends after school for them. But now, it’s been over 20 years since the greatest to have ever played the game, Tony Hawk, also known as the birdman changed the game forever.

Before the arrival of Hawk to the game, there were very towns that have skateparks where skateboarders practices skateboarding, and perform all kinds of tricks to help them become a better skater. As of then the game of skateboard was all for fun and no penny attached.

But during the mid-80s, everything changed. Skateboarding became a good means for pro skaters to earn cool money. And this was possible because of the ever-great Tony Hawk, the Birdman.
As if becoming a pro skater at the age of 14 was not amazing enough, Hawk, even at his early age, dominated the National Skateboard Association (NSA) Tour, by winning multiple titles.

In the UK, skateboarding was formerly seen as what teens and youths do in their own space to help them get out of troubles or what the Americans do for fun at the beach. But ever since Tony Hawk hit the UK that perspective of skateboarding has changed for good.

Tony Hawk has successfully made an impact in such a way that skateboarding has influenced other entertaining industries like music, fashion, arts, and lots more.

Tony Hawk said, “Many people have told me that the game kick-started their career in music, sports, or film-making because they saw that we – as pro skaters – had a different, more refreshing approach to life.”

Why did Tony Hawk Stop Skating?

Well, even though he is retired, Hawk has never really left the game. Hawk has been battling with a “900” or “9”- two-and-a-half mid-air spins on the board that has never been heard of-since about 1986.
He has tried it when practicing, and also in lots of competitions but never had success. So, as he was getting of age in the game, Hawk became so much obsessed with the mindset of landing the first-ever 9.
He finally did it in the year 1999 X Game, and after then, Hawk announced his retirement from competitions.

As earlier said, although he was retired, Hawk still had more on his to-do list even more than he had while he was still skating. As a means of cementing his status as the greatest to ever indulge in the game of skateboard, He stared in one of the most popular video game series ever, known as the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.

At Club Tony Hawk, He quoted “I’m pretty happy with the way things turned out,” he went further to state that “I mean, I never thought I could make a career out of skateboarding.”

How to Choose the Right Skateboard

How to Choose the Right Skateboard

There are many different types of skateboards for skaters to choose from. Whether you prefer a street-skating style or spend your time at skateparks, it’s important to select the right board for your skating style.

4 Skateboard Shapes

Skateboard decks—the board in which a skater stands upon—are typically made of seven or nine layers of birch or maple wood that are laminated together and shaped. Boards come in different shapes, and each board type is used for different kinds of skating.

  1. Shortboards: Shortboards are the shortest style board. They are designed and shaped for getting air and performing tricks. These decks usually have a popsicle shape and are used for impressive stunts and aerodynamics.
  2. Cruiser skateboards: Longer than a standard skateboard but shorter than a longboard, cruiser boards often feature kicktails, and are easily maneuverable mid-length boards designed for cruising streets.
  3. Old school skateboards: These old school decks typically have a flat nose, kicktail, and an asymmetrical shape with a wider nose. They work well for skating pools, ramps, or carving the streets.
  4. Longboards: Longboards have wider decks and are longer than regular skateboards, making them more easily maneuverable. Longboarding is best suited for transportation or downhill skateboarding, not for tricks. The longboard’s wheelbase is also wider, giving the skateboarder more control at higher speeds.

How to Choose the Right Skateboard

The right skateboard deck shape for you depends on your size and the style of skateboarding you plan to do. Decks come in many different widths, and you should choose your skateboard based on deck width, not length, according to these general guidelines:

  • Micro deck: Micro decks have a width of six and a half to six and three-quarter inches. If you are under three feet, five inches, and wear a size three shoe or smaller, a micro deck is a good choice for you.
  • Mini deck: Mini decks are the next size up from micro decks, with a width of around seven inches. This board is perfect for skaters that are between three feet five and four feet, four inches, and wear a shoe size between four and six.
  • Mid-size deck: Mid-size decks have a width of seven and a third inches. This deck is best for skaters that are between four feet five and five feet, two inches, and wear a shoe between sizes seven and eight.
  • Full-size deck: Full-size decks are the standard skate deck for most adults, with a width of seven and a half inches or larger. This deck works best for skaters who are five feet, three inches or taller, and wear a size nine shoes or bigger. For street skateboarding and more technical tricks, you’ll need a board width between seven and a half to eight inches. If you want to skate swimming pools, ramps, and parks, you’ll likely need a board width between eight and eight and a quarter inches. For vert skaters, pools, and cruising, a wider board of eight and a quarter inches or above will work.
